Towson Patch: Bozzuto Breaks Ground on Towson Green

The 121-unit complex includes upscale homes and environmentally-friendly features
Government officials and business executives helped preside at the ground-breaking of Towson Green, a 121-unit residential complex near downtown Towson during a ceremony on Tuesday.
The $10.3 million, 9.2-acre project is being built by by the Bozzuto Group and is scheduled for completion in 2014.
"Towson Green represents an important part of the progress that is revitalizing downtown Towson," Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz said in a statement. "Even at a time when not many developers are moving forward with new residential projects, savvy developers like the Bozzuto Group are still eager to invest in Towson."
Once the site of rentals and vacant houses, the tract of land between Burke and East Chesapeake avenues, just east of York Road, has gone through several false starts before and since Bozzuto bought the property in 2006.
Towson Green is a high-end complex—homes there are expected to sell for more than $300,000. Buyers there will qualify for county property tax relief for 10 years under the county's community revitalization tax credits.
Bozzuto has also been working with the nonprofit Cheseapeake Fund to minimize the development's environmental impact.
Numerous officials attended the groundbreaking ceremony, including former County Executive Jim Smith, Councilman David Marks, state Del. Bill Frank and Bozzuto executives.
