Baltimore Business Journal: The Bozzuto Group Shakes Up Leadership
February 21, 2013
A longtime Bozzuto Group leader is stepping down, and a pair of up-and-coming executives are taking on new roles with the company.
John Slidell, a co-founder, vice chairman and president of Bozzuto Land Co., will step down April 5. Slidell will remain involved as an owner and investor and will represent the company in "select endeavors," according to a statement released by the company. He is scaling back his involvement to "pursue other interests," the statement said.
Meanwhile, Toby Bozzuto, the president of Bozzuto Development Co., will become president of the Bozzuto Group, a new position. Bozzuto, who lives in Baltimore, has led several area projects, including the Fitzgerald apartments near Mount Vernon.
Steve Strazzella, the executive vice president of Bozzuto Development Co., will succeed Toby Bozzuto as president of Bozzuto Development.
Bozzuto Group CEO Tom Bozzuto in a statement called Slidell a "loyal friend with a wealth of knowledge in all aspects of real estate development." He added he would miss Slidell's "daily insight, guidance and wisdom."
The Bozzuto Group during the last year and a half has launched nearly $750 million in apartment projects, according to the company. Tom Bozzuto said those projects reflect the strength of the company's leadership team.
"We have never experienced such tremendous growth in such a short time frame," he said. "The locations of these properties, combined with their innovative design features, reinforce the company's position as a national leader in the apartment industry."
