Drive 17 miles west of Philadelphia, and you will find yourself in the small Delaware County town of Glen Mills. Like many towns in the area, Glen Mills began to grow in population once the West Chester and Philadelphia Railroad line opened in 1858. Today, you can hop aboard the heritage West Chester Railroad and travel into nearby West Chester, a historic and charming town with a lively downtown shopping and dining district. Spend time exploring nearby Ridley Creek State Park, a popular spot for hiking, biking, fishing, and picnicking and home to a formal garden designed by the Olmsted Brothers (of Central Park fame), the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation, and the John J. Tyler Arboretum.
