The Urban Land Institute District Council of Baltimore Announces its 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner
July 23, 2013
Baltimore – July 23, 2013 – The Baltimore District Council of The Urban Land Institute announced today that Thomas S. Bozzuto, chairman and CEO of The Bozzuto Group, has been selected as the 2013 ULI Baltimore WaveMaker Lifetime Achievement Award winner.
On October 3, 2013, ULI Baltimore will host its fifth annual WaveMaker Awards program, where the organization will present Tom Bozzuto with this honorable award.
For decades, ULI has recognized outstanding real estate development projects, related programs, and visionaries in urban development through its global “Awards of Excellence” program. ULI Baltimore’s annual WaveMaker Awards Event recognizes local real estate development projects, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award winner.
The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to a recognized leader in the development community that has served more than two decades; has touched all aspects of development (acquisition, design, financing, implementation); has touched a variety of different land uses (retail, office residential, hospitality, etc.); can be a developer, builder, contractor, consultant, financier; someone that the vast majority of people would say “that makes sense – they are the right person”; and has volunteered their time and/or resources to help advance the industry.
During Tom Bozzuto’s more than forty-year career, he has overseen and been responsible for the creation of nearly 50,000 residential units with a conservatively estimated value of nearly $7 billion.
In 1988, Tom established The Bozzuto Group of companies with John Slidell, Rick Mostyn and the late Bernie Lubcher. Today, celebrating 25 years in business, the companies provide a broad range of real estate services, including development, construction, property management and homebuilding.
In 2012, David Cordish, president of the The Cordish Company, received ULI Baltimore’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
The WaveMaker Awards “Call For Entries” was distributed earlier this week. The Jury for the Awards Committee will select the winners that will be honored on October 3rd at Pazo’s located at 1425 Aliceanna Street in Baltimore. Online registration is available by visiting www.baltimore.uli.org and clicking on Events, or by calling 1-800-321-5011. The "go to" organization for unbiased strategic visioning, ULI comprises an international community of development experts who take on today's issues in the context of a livable tomorrow. The local component of the Urban Land Institute, the Baltimore District Council coordinates monthly program events and a leadership forum addressing land use, development and financing issues facing our region. Program topics are chosen by a committee made up of local ULI members who identify topics and speakers for our programs and special events throughout the year.
