Washington Business Journal: Bozzuto Group Starts New Company
November 17, 2009
The Bozzuto Group is helping launch a new sales and marketing firm that will provide general marketing work as well as pre-construction planning, product and green-building consulting, market research and sales staffing and training.
SalesMark is based in Greenbelt like its backer and was founded by Pam Meding, a founding partner of Baltimore-based Condo Sales & Marketing Partners and Columbia-based Builders 1st Choice.
The new company will take over Bozzuto’s 10-person sales team working with the parent company and other area developers.
Meding worked with CEO Tom Bozzuto for about 10 years while with she was with Builders 1st Choice and the two started working on the SalesMark concept in April.
Meding said the new company would likely limit their work to Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia and start working with smaller builders as well as on assets taken back by banks in the economic downturn.
The Bozzuto Group is comprised of six companies involved in acquisitions, construction, development, home building, land development and property management.
SalesMark’s portfolio includes Bozzuto’s Woodbrook on Charles in Baltimore and the now-sold out North Point Reston in Virginia. The company is also selling The Addison in Capitol Heights, which Bozzuto developed with the St. Paul Community Development Corp.
“We recognized an opportunity exists to share new home sales and marketing expertise with third-party clients,” Bozzuto said in a statement. “SalesMark customers will benefit from the same level of outstanding creativity, value and results that we are known for bringing to all of our third-party clients.”
