Tom Bozzuto Interviews George W. Bush at NMHC Annual Meeting

Greenbelt, MD – January 20, 2012 – Tom Bozzuto, Chairman and CEO of The Bozzuto Group, was honored to interview George W. Bush, the 43rd President of the United States, yesterday before an audience of 2,000 at the 2012 National Multi Housing Council (NMHC) Annual Meeting in Boca Raton, Florida.

Perennially calm, cool and collected, Tom kept up with President Bush’s witty banter and fast-on-his-feet responses through a series of questions that covered foreign policy, economic policy, U.S. policy and leadership.

Notably, Bush shared his personal thoughts on what it takes to be successful, whether running a property, a company, or a country:  stick to what you believe in, surround yourself with people you trust (and trusting them), execute on your vision, and always remain true to yourself and to your beliefs.

Also during the conference, NMHC elected Tom to serve a two-year term as the Council’s Chairman.  As Chairman of the national association that is the leading voice for the apartment industry, Tom will lead an agenda focusing on priorities such as advocating for a balanced housing policy – one which acknowledges the important role rental housing plays in meeting the needs of America’s workforce – and enhancing access to affordable debt. In addition, he plans to continue successful initiatives to build connections among NMHC members and within the apartment industry.

“Through changing demographics and savvy consumer choices, we’re seeing a seismic shift in the demand for apartment living,” said Bozzuto. “My main priority over the next two years will focus on creating an environment on Capitol Hill and in the capital markets that will ensure we can meet the country’s need for millions of new apartments over the next decade.”
