December 2013

Happy New Year!  As we launch into 2014 with an ever-increasing pace of work, and depth of workload, the Bozzuto marketing department is taking a step back to focus on QUALITY. This includes examining the quality of our work and determining ways we can maintain, and even improve, the quality of what we’re producing. That said, I thought I would share with you a few thoughts on achieving quality in our marketing efforts.

Quality in marketing is often considered too subjective and therefore too challenging to define. However, there are many aspects that can be made objective. But to first understand quality in marketing, it is important to understand two concepts: process and metrics.

Quality is not an event – it is a process, and a mindset. A consistently high quality product cannot be produced by a faulty process. There needs to be a repetitive cycle of measuring quality, updating processes, measuring, updating processes, etc. We cannot have a high-quality result without a defined process.

To make this quality process work, collecting metrics is vital. If we are not going to capture metrics, it will be hard to improve processes. For instance, one of the features of a quality e-mail program may be increasing the percentage of open rates. This is an easily achieved metric that can be measured before and after the process goes live.

These are just a few of the strategies we are implementing to ensure our work is of the highest quality possible. Do you have a quality topic that you would like to see addressed? Don’t hesitate to contact me at

On Saturday, November 9th, beautiful artwork met the best of downtown Annapolis living.  That was the day that Bozzuto Homes showcased the final remaining home at Uptown at Murray Hill – a 3,600 square foot, single–family home – by hosting an art show within the home itself. Artwork included historic black and white photographs of downtown Annapolis as well as vibrant canvases by Bill Ward of renowned rock band Black Sabbath. To create the event, Bozzuto Homes partnered with nearby art gallery Annapolis Collection.

More than 50 guests toured the available home, enjoying delicious seasonal food from local caterer Palate Pleasers. The BHI team was thrilled to bring the arts to the Uptown community while showcasing this beautiful home.

The past few months have been busy for The Bozzuto Group’s PR team as they organized and implemented several media tour days, made numerous announcements, assisted with the press conference announcing The Rotunda groundbreaking, and orchestrated media inquiries for many of our exciting communities.

This summer, Baltimore media enjoyed the opportunity to experience a full tour of Union Wharf, when Toby Bozzuto and Chris Harvey from architectural firm Hord Coplan Macht entertained reporters from The Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Business Journal and The Daily Record. In addition to the on-site interviews, the team secured coverage about the project in Baltimore Magazine and STYLE Magazine.

In mid-September, the PR team worked with their counterparts at Hekemian & Co. to announce the groundbreaking of The Rotunda, Bozzuto Construction Company’s largest third-party contract to date. The news was covered by The Baltimore Sun, The Daily Record, Baltimore Business Journal, Jewish Times, WJZ, WBFF, WBAL, and WMAR.

In mid-October, reporters from the Washington City Paper, Popville, Urban Turf, Bisnow, The Brookland Bridge, and Life on the Edgewood all participated in on-site interviews with developer Mike Henehan to learn more about Monroe Street Market. The PR team also welcomed reporters from the Washington Business Journal and the Washington Post on two separate occasions for individual interviews and photo shoots.

Lastly, the team also shared positive news with local, regional and industry media outlets by announcing Bozzuto’s recent award wins, including: Julie Smith’s recognition as MFE’s 2013 Executive of the Year, APAH’s award for Bozzuto’s commitment to affordable housing, five GALA Awards for Bozzuto Homes’ efforts, and the CandE Award, an honor given to companies representing a strong candidate engagement strategy.
