Elevation DC: 460 New York Ave Condos Go on Sale

Sales at 460 New York Ave. NW officially kick off on March 20.
Located in Mount Vernon Triangle, the Bozzuto Homes high-rise at the corner of L St. and New York Ave will add 63 swish dwellings to the neighborhood. DC’s WDG is the architect on the project; among other projects, it designed 1602 L Street NW and the Ashton, which feature similar glass-and-metal skins.
Being completed now in the 11-story building: studio, one-bedroom, one-bedroom-plus-den, and two-bedroom units. The smallest units will be about 470 square feet; the largest, north of 1,050 square feet. For a limited time, buyers will be able to have input into their units cabinet finishes, flooring, tiling and other accents.
Prices for the condominiums are expected to range from the low $400s to the mid $700s.
Building amenities will include a garage system with a space-saving lift mechanism, the second of its kind in Washington but fairly common in Europe. The building, originally built in 1929 as a warehouse, is also a half-mile or less from each of two Metro stations, Mount Vernon Square on the Yellow and Green lines and Gallery Place on the Red line.
A 3,000 square-foot rooftop deck/penthouse will include both lounge and patio areas.
Greenbelt, Md.-based Bozzuto first got approval on the project in 2008, but had to scale down original plans for 80 units. Some local back-and-forth about the long-empty warehouse’s historical preservation designation, as documented on The Triangle, also slowed the pace of development.
