GREENBELT, MD — April 6, 2017 — Bozzuto Management Company has been named 2017 ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year — Energy Management. Bozzuto is receiving this recognition for its efforts to improve the energy efficiency of the apartment communities it manages and its commitment to engaging its residents to promote energy efficiency and the value of the ENERGY STAR program. Bozzuto is the first and only 100 percent multifamily management company to win this award. This award is the highest level of recognition by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

Among its many achievements, Bozzuto’s highlights include:

  • A significant 4 percent reduction in energy usage across its entire managed portfolio, resulting in millions in savings and multi-millions in increased asset value.
  • ENERGY STAR certifications with 14 communities in 2016 — the most by any third party management company.
  • Enrollment of its first five communities in the National Building Competition: BOOTCAMP, representing 33 percent of all participating multifamily buildings.

In addition to resident engagement and education, Bozzuto Management implemented continued substantial energy and money-saving strategies across its portfolio.

“Our energy management program has grown substantially to benefit our residents and to protect our environment,” said Peter Zadoretzky, Director of Sustainability for Bozzuto Management Company. “We benchmark every community we manage in ENERGY STAR’s Portfolio Manager. This helps us gain massive savings, through a combination of teamwork, targeted communications and energy conservation measures.”

In 2015 alone, ENERGY STAR and its partners saved American businesses and consumers 503 billion kilowatt hours and $34 billion on their energy bills, while achieving broad emission reductions.

Bozzuto Management Company’s accomplishments will be recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C. on April 26, 2017.
