Bozzuto and Harbor East Management Group Celebrate the Grand Opening of Liberty Harbor East

October 9, 2019

New Community Embodies the Evolution of the Baltimore Waterfront

BALTIMORE, MD — October 9, 2019 — Liberty Harbor East, a landmark multifamily community within Baltimore’s vibrant Harbor East neighborhood, celebrated its Official Grand Opening yesterday with project partners and dignitaries, including Baltimore City Mayor Young. Harbor East Management Group and Bozzuto broke ground on Liberty Harbor East nearly three years ago to the day in October 2016. Developed by Harbor East Management Group with Bozzuto serving as co-developer, general contractor and property manager, Liberty Harbor East offers 282 apartments and 33 condominiums along with lavish amenities, incomparable conveniences, and breathtaking harbor views for the finest in waterfront living.

Since leasing began in April of 2019, community response has been overwhelmingly successful, with Liberty generating a record-breaking 35 signed leases during opening weekend and consistently achieving an absorption pace of 49 apartments per month, more than twice the average absorption pace for Baltimore City, which is approximately 21 units per month*. Liberty Harbor East welcome its first apartment residents on August 1 and to date, boasts 141 signed leases.

The new 50,000 square foot Whole Foods Market will open in the spring of 2020 and occupy the street level of Liberty Harbor East. The flagship store, only the fourth prototype of its kind, will feature cafe seating and outdoor patios with waterfront views on the second floor of the building. Mayor Young Quote

Liberty Harbor East is steeped in history and rooted in local culture. It was imagined and brought to life by the Paterakis and Bozzuto families, whose stories embody the ethos of community and the intrepid character of Baltimore. Both began with big dreams and bold ambitions that changed the trajectory of the city and shaped its skyline. The “Liberty” name is inspired by Liberty Paterakis, the daughter of Baltimore’s H&S Bakery founder Isadore “Steve” Paterakis and sister of the late John Paterakis Sr., who developed Harbor East. Built upon the foundation of the historic Bethlehem’s Steel’s Fairfield Yard, famed for their production of the legendary Liberty Ships in World War II, Liberty’s façade and structure are reminiscent of ocean waves or sailboats running under full sail. With a design that pays tribute to the history of the harbor, Liberty Harbor East delivers an extraordinary experience that feels both authentic and modern.

H&S Properties Development Corp. CEO Bill Paterakis stated, “Liberty Harbor East stands as the embodiment of my family’s unwavering commitment to Baltimore and is a testament to my father’s tenacity and bold vision for this City.  The early success of Liberty proves that we are not alone in our convictions – here stands a community that believes in Baltimore’s future and is dedicated to contributing to its story.”

Liberty Harbor East’s sleek layout includes 11,000 square feet of amenity space that flows from indoors to outdoors, encouraging opportunities to engage and share communal moments. The 9th floor reveals a dramatic experience with a 21,000-square foot elevated courtyard, infinity pool and resort-style deck overlooking the harbor. Residences at Liberty Harbor East are outfitted with wood-like floors, stainless steel appliances, full-size washer and dryers, and gourmet kitchens with quartz countertops, tile backsplashes, and undercabinet lighting.

The award-winning firm of Hickok Cole Architects created Liberty Harbor East’s design. They are joined by interior design firms Stonehill Taylorand Purple Cherry Architects, as well as landscape architectural design firm Mahan Rykiel & Associates.
